REFUSE ANXIOUS ANXIOUS YOUTH

Chinese mass media have recently reported a lot about spiritual distress among urban youth. The problem of anxious youth has seriously affected their daily life and possibly ruined their expectation for a bright future. I want to do some in-depth research on such a social phenomenon. On the one hand, I can understand the authenticity and background of the report. On the other, I can learn whether it is possible to help young people find psychological support through flag language. In this way, I can figure out the cause of anxious youth.

First-hand survey results:

  1. Anxious youth is aged mainly from 23 to 30.

  2. Most young people feel anxiety is true.

  3. Young people in first-tier cities have more anxiety.

  4. Most young people are anxious every day.

  5. Young people use the word ‘anxiety’ to play a self-deprecating.

  6. Key words are work, study, money, diet, health and affections.

 

EXPERIMENT

According to the survey result, there are 6 major scenes, and appropriate elements in the scene are studied for visual expression.

 

DEVELOPMENT

Visual attempt:

Test 1. I tried to use creative photography to express it, but pictures lack fun and can’t arise an emotional response.

Test 2. I started experimenting with illustration and found it much more fun, but the picture was too dull overall. I decided to go further with illustration to find the best matching visual form.

Test 3.

a. My graphical designs are guided by Memphis style, complex graphics simplified and combined. The experiment proves that the visual extension of the Memphis style is not good. I made some appropriate corrections to meet the need of my styles.

b. For some more complex graphics, there will be no details in the graphical processing. The items are transformed by making old style.

c. Set a theme title with 6 scene icons and divide them into 12 sub-headings. Presented using labels, expressing the identity of anxious youth and the fact that they want to be known to the outside.
